We had a very successful spay/neuter clinic last weekend. Our wonderful Covelo Clinic @UC Davis group of veterinarians, veterinary students, vet techs and support staff came to Covelo to offer their services once again to help our community's pet population. We hosted 105 volunteers that were busy all weekend doing the endless surgeries, finishing the weekend with a C-Section on a small goat. What an exciting, though exhausting weekend it was. This time they also offered some large animal services for horses and donkeys, sheep and goats and pigs. In our area it is difficult to get veterinarians to come for large animals. We are finally getting back to our normal routine after such the jam packed weekend we had last week.

The California Veterinary Emergency Team offered their services to large animals in our community.

Our horse, Shammy getting his physical before he was given dental care. Shammy is 27 years old and has recently exhibited symptoms of Cushings Disease. We were able to get medication to help him deal with this.

Shammy also had his hooves trimmed. We were so fortunate to have these services done for our old guy. He will have a chance to get examined again in November allowing him to live a healthier, hopefully longer life. We sincerely thank this group of dedicated volunteers from the bottom of our hearts!
