We have rescued another injured dog recently. He went along with Vinnie to Wasson Memorial today for xrays so we could find out about his injuries. He was brought to us as a stray that had been beaten up by other dogs over a female dog in heat. He came with puncture wounds to his front leg. His leg was really swollen and he wouldn't use it. After antibiotics and rest the swelling went down, but he still didn't use it. We knew there must be something else wrong. He also seemed to have a problem with his rear leg. We were shocked that the xrays revealed that he has been shot in the front leg leaving bullet fragments causing a break in the elbow. He also has a femur fracture that has somehow started to heal. PLUS, he has lots of pellets imbedded in various places in his body. The good news for Dude is a plan is to have surgery on Monday to try to save his front leg by removing the fragments and attaching a plate to secure the broken portion. These injuries aren't new and it's obvious that this poor guy, we are calling Dude, hasn't been treated kindly wherever he was living. He seems to be a gentle dog and is actually a bit shy. Although we are trying to rebuild our medical fund after the expenses for Vinnie's surgery, we can't let this dog suffer with these injuries. If you would like to donate to Dude's medical expenses please either PayPal address is bonesrescue@saber.net or mail to P.O. Box 1009 Covelo, CA 95428 We are always grateful for any help.
