With the new year I will do better with posting updates on the things of interest that go on daily here at the rescue. We have been very busy caring for our various residents, building and repairing the structures, cleaning and basically making life more comfortable for all of our animal residents that call this place home. Time seems to get away from me with the number of intakes we have and the necessary work that goes on every single day. So, check back often to see what we're up to!
We ended 2025 (New Year's Day eve day by taking in a little puppy that found himself in need of a safe place to stay. We have named him Odie. He is number 250 on our intake sheet. He was found by a good Samaritan all alone on a rural road early yesterday morning. She saw his predicament and brought him to us. We estimate that he is about 7 weeks old. Poor little guy must have had a head on accident with a skunk and gosh did he smell! The smell seemed to be centered on his face, but he got the whole body "skunk treatment" which consisted of a bath with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and Dawn dish soap. He was so good and brave to tolerate sitting for 10 minutes before getting rinsed off. After his blow dry he cuddled up in a cozy warm blanket. He was so tired he slept all day. This morning (New Year's Day) he is energetic and happy, ready for breakfast and a long lasting chewy. It's very gratifying to see the change coming over him now that he's clean, rested, has a full tummy and is ready to take on his new life. Welcome to BONES Pet Rescue, Odie!
