Poor Mimi lost her owner and constant companion when he sadly passed away. He adopted her from us a year and a half ago after his senior dog passed. Mimi fit in perfectly in his home and the bond was tight. We were called the morning of his passing and immediately went to get her. She was with him overnight after his death. We think that made the transition back to us a little easier. Mimi knows us as well as most of the sanctuary residents. She seems to miss being the only one and getting all of the attention, but she's getting used to sharing. Mimi would love to be the princess of the home and would make anyone a loyal and great companion. Until the right match comes along she will stay here with us. She lives in our home, is housetrained, is easy on leash, loves car rides, listens well, gets along with other dogs and, although she would thrive in with a family of her own, is a joy to have here with us.
Mimi's backstory- She was found at the rest area on Hwy 101 in Longvale where Covelo Rd/Hwy 162 intersect. She was going back and forth across the freeway to a house on the opposite side searching for food. (Luckily, she never got hit by the heavy traffic.) The folks that lived there allowed her to stay, but their dogs didn't like her. When we went to bring her home we discovered that she was nursing puppies. But, the folks said there were no puppies and that something must have gotten them because they never saw or heard any puppies. The next morning she was dripping milk, so we knew there must be puppies there somewhere. We were able to persuade them to search. They crawled under their house and found two of the cutest, fattest little puppies and brought them to us. Mimi was ecstatic to get them back! When they were weaned and ready the easily found homes.
