Welcome Little Jasper!

We heard about Jasper and his litter when they were discovered living in an old dog house in the finder's backyard. The mother is a feral, stray dog who found a safe place to birth her babies. There were nine of them! We think they were born the last week of January. The mother is rarely seen, but the babies were fat and healthy. Soon after they were discovered the mother moved them under a shed on the same property. The finder leaves food out for the mom in hopes that she wouldn't move them someplace where they wouldn't be found. But...she moved them into another old doghouse on same property. On Feb. 19th a lone puppy was found by the doghouse wet, cold and crying. The mom had moved the puppies and forgot Jasper (as we are calling him). We think he is about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks old. He is doing great and eating his soaked puppy food with formula. He loves his heating pad and his stuffies. He is such a good boy. When the other puppies are found they will join Jasper here to grow big enough, get their vaccinations, other health care and get ready for adoption. When that time comes we will try to trap the mother and get her spayed. Many puppies are born on the reservation on the outskirts where they aren't cared for and don't have any human interaction. They are the difficult ones for us to socialize and find homes for. If Jasper's siblings are found when they are still babies we have a good chance of offering positive socializing skills which makes them more suitable for a good life as a companion in a loving family.

We don't know what his breed mix is, but he's definitely a cutie pie!
